The Mersey Heritage Society is looking for
new members to join us in some exciting projects planned for 2001. Please check
out our PROJECTS page and let us know if you're
interested in taking part.
No special skills or archaeological knowledge
is necessary!
- The society is going to look for a 1778
French shipwreck in Liverpool Bay. We are going to use remote sensing,
thanks to a volunteer with special technical skills. We would also like to
get some volunteer divers together to do confirmatory testing
this summer.
- We're working with the Region of Queens to
compile an inventory of heritage buildings in Queens County. We have covered
Liverpool, Milton and Port Medway so far. If you can help with any other communities,
please let us know!
- The society is going to map remains in the
old Guysboro Town Plot in Port Mouton. We need
volunteers to help with the site reconnaissance and looking
for stone walls, and old cellars in the woods.
- After the site mapping is done, we hope to
do an archaeological dig at a selected location in the Guysboro
Town Plot. We'll need people to help with the dig, as well as cleaning
and cataloguing artifacts.
We hope to hear from you!
